XENIA - Greene County Career Center Superintendent Dan Schroer has announced that Barb Wagner has been named the school's new Director of Adult and Community Education.
“We are excited to add Barb to our team,” said Schroer. “Her energy and passion for student success will drive our organization to high levels.”
Wagner has been in the educational arena for 24 years. She holds a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Wright State University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics and Consumer Science with a minor in Education. She has contributed to the field of education by effectively developing partnerships with business and industry, improving student achievement, and building relationships with parents and community members.
Wagner will be leading the adult education team in the development of exciting full- and part-time programs. She will also advocate for increased customized training and consultative services for Greene County business and other industries.
“Helping individuals become productive through workforce development is crucial in helping get our economy back on track,” said Wagner. “Individuals who obtain industry credentials and certificates are able to not only be projective workers but create businesses to employ others. My personal promise to Greene County is to build upon the current foundation of the Adult Learning Center program at Greene County Career Center to become the leader in customized workforce development training.”
While teaching, Wagner advised two State FCCLA Officers, several District FCCLA Officers, received national recognition as a Master FCCLA Advisor, and served as an Ohio Key FCCLA Advisor assisting new chapter advisors in southwestern Ohio.
As Project Associate for the Darke County School-To-Work program, she worked with businesses and classroom teachers to connect classroom learning to real world applications. She has served as an evaluator of Pickaway-Ross CTC to assist with improving school performance using the Connect Critical Friends process.
In addition, Wagner has been a workshop presenter at several conferences and trainings including the All-Ohio Career, Technical, and Adult Education Conference, the Ohio Charter School Conference, and the National Heritage Academies New Teacher Training.
Greene County Career Center’s Adult Learning Connections serves the community through full-time career preparation programs, community education classes and customized training for businesses. Wagner can be reached at 372-6941.
