Springfield, Ohio — A centuries-old tradition in Japanese culture, the Taiko or “fat drum” has been played during religious ceremonies, in warfare and, more recently, for performance-only sake. From Feb. 1-Feb. 3, students and the Springfield community will have a chance to experience this art form firsthand, thanks to the efforts of Janice Glowski, assistant professor of art and 1987 Wittenberg alumna.

In October of 2010, Citi Lookout sponsored the first annual STAND conference with the goal of bringing together women of all ages and of all social, economic, racial and denominational backgrounds with the purpose of taking a STAND - Steadily Taking Action Never Distracted- for the gospel of Jesus Christ in Springfield and Clark County. There were over 400 women in attendance with gospel singing sensation, Babbie Mason giving a concert to close the evening. It was an event of big city proportions. This year, on Saturday, February 18th, Citi Lookout is excited to announce that all the stops have been pulled out to bring Springfield a conference that encourages women to STAND together with one another on their Journey with the Lord and all of the trials this life brings. This year’s conference, STAND II: The Journey, features speakers from every season of life, sharing stories of strength, hope and even humor as they are journeying towards becoming the women God has called them to be and offering encouragement to others as they strive to do the same. Upbeat, soaking and soulful worship music provides an atmosphere for prayer and praise that will linger for weeks to come. This year’s conference is being hosted by Maiden Lane Church of God with a tour guided bus ride through downtown Springfield to the Courtyard at Marriott, where a delectable lunch will be provided. While driving through town, your tour guide will highlight area ministries and organizations in the Springfield and Clark County area, outlining the services they provide to women and their families. The STAND organizational team is confident that God will use this tour to convince the hearts of hundreds of women the ways in which they can serve their community, taking a STAND by volunteer work and the like.…
