Pigeon Forge, TN-Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede has been, and continues to be, a wonderful attraction for the entire family for several years but there is something unknown about the Pigeon Forge Tennessee dinner show.  Several times a year the well known and respected venue collects canned goods by the van load and distributes them to the Sevier County Food Ministries of Sevierville, Tennessee.  Connie Holbart, Denise Miller, and Linda Watson, Dixie Stampede staff members working in conjunction with Director of Marketing Jim Whaley, were noticed standing by the huge van collecting these goods from dozens of people what a joy to talk with!

The Sevier County Food Ministries is a voluntary, interfaith ministry to help assure that no one in Sevier County goes hungry.  “We are guided by the example of Christ who understood hunger and fed the multitudes.  Food and donations to purchase food are contributed by individuals, churches and other organizations” mentioned Pastor Steve Streibig, SCFM Executive Director since 1998.

The Mission Statement for SCFM is an expression of the Body of Christ that demonstrates our Faith in response to the Word of God by providing food, love, and compassion to the hungry.   The purpose of the ministry is to feed the hungry nutritionally, physically and spiritually as we follow the example of Christ.

Their neighbors do not have to meet any qualifications to receive food, though an interview is conducted to obtain basic information and to understand their situation.

Our program is an emergency food resource for persons experiencing a food shortage.  Those in need may come once a week for as long as they are experiencing difficulties.  The SCFM helps approximately 1200 families every week.
