Wright State assistant softball coach Dave Brittingham will be inducted Sunday into the Ohio ASA Hall of Honor.

Brittingham began his softball career with a slow pitch playing career that spanned from 1971-1998.  Playing with teams such as Tremac, John Williams Plumbing, Bradley Plumbing, Harrison Radiator, VFW 2402, Springfield Merchants and Teamster 957, Dave was known for his speed and defense as he was the leadoff hitter for several of those teams.  Brittingham was a part of six ASA state championships and two Dayton Metro Industrial championships.  He also played in nine national tournaments.

Off the field, Brittingham was a part owner of Bresco Fields from 1981-83, which sponsored the 1982 women's Class A state champs.

From 1996-2008, Brittingham served as a coach with the Miami Valley Xpress high school summer program, which one of the top five programs in the state on a yearly basis.  He posted a record of 528-173, which included a 136-64 mark against college teams, and won five Gold Region 9 championships.

The Xpress, under Brittingham's direction, sent 63 girls on to college softball, with 40 of those playing in Division I.  Four have been named All-American, four have been selected as a conference Player of the Year, three have been chose as All-Region and two have reached the professional level.  Four have also went on to become college head coaches.

Brittingham is currently in his seventh year as an assistant coach with the WSU softball program.  During his time here, the Raiders have made three appearances in the NCAA Tournament (2007, 2008, 2010).

"I am so lucky to have Dave on my staff," said Wright State head coach Lynn Curylo.  "He has a great deal of fastpitch knowledge.  His love and passion for the game has not only made current and former players at WSU better, but has improved the level of softball played throughout the state of Ohio."

Brittingham resides in Xenia with his wife, Julie.

Brittingham will not be able to attend the induction ceremony as he will be with the Wright State softball team, which opens their season this weekend at the Tiger Invitational in Auburn, Alabama.  The Raiders will face Bowling Green, Auburn, Appalachian State and Alabama State during the three-day tournament.
